Mission

To know Christ and make Him known

Values

Our ministry is defined, our mission enhanced, and our efforts unified by the following values:

1. Our Worship of God

Our highest priority is to know and bring glory to God. We worship Him as our Creator and sovereign Lord. We believe God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him. Our primary commitment is to exalt Jesus Christ and magnify God’s name through our Sunday morning celebration and the daily offering of our lives in service and love.
(Psalm 40; Romans 11:36; 1 Corinthians 9:19-23; 1 Timothy 4:16; 2 Timothy 4:3-6)

2. Our Authority

We delight in studying the Bible, God’s Word. We believe that it is the sole source for spiritual truth, the final authority on all matters of faith and life, and has the power and sufficiency to transform our lives. We are committed to expository preaching – understanding and explaining the God-intended meaning of Scripture and applying it to our lives today.
(2 Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews 4:12)

3. Our Dependence on Prayer

We understand that the mission, the goals and the values of Cornerstone Community Church are humanly impossible. We do not inherently possess the means to make disciples or advance them in knowing, loving and serving Christ. These are works of God and we will always rely on Him in prayer as we ask Him to accomplish these biblical objectives among us.
(John 15:5-7; Colossians 4:2-6; 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18))

4. Our Congregation

We support inter-generational worship, education, and fellowship, believing that the body of Christ includes those of every age in whom the Spirit of God dwells. We believe that regular close relationships with fellow believers and accountability to other members of the church body create an environment where the Holy Spirit can bring about significant transformation in our individual lives as well as strengthen our unity in Christ.
(Psalm 148; Matthew 19:14; 1 John 2:13-14)

5. Our Families

We recognize that strong churches come from strong families and seek to strengthen the Kingdom by strengthening marriages and families. We strive to equip parents and children to have Christ-centered family relationships. Additionally, we want to help singles and individuals without families find a very real sense of family within our church.
(Psalm 127; Ephesians 6:4; Colossians 3:18-21)

6. Our Youth and Children

We give children and youth special attention recognizing that most people who commit their lives to Christ do so in their youth. We recognize that the primary responsibility for ministry to children rests on parents, but we desire to effectively partner with parents in training and discipling children.
(Psalm 127; Matthew 18:3; Matthew 19:14)

7. Our Leadership

We believe the Church functions most effectively under the guidance of a plurality of elders, and we entrust our elders with the responsibility to provide ministry direction, oversight, and to keep the church moving toward its purpose and ministry objectives. Additionally, we seek to encourage, affirm and train all those who demonstrate spiritual leadership gifts to prepare them for larger spheres of ministry influence.
(Ephesians 4:11-12; Acts 14:23; 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13; 1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:6-9)

8. Our Community

We believe God has called us to go into our neighborhoods, work places, and schools to be effective witnesses for Christ, sharing His message in word and deed. We strive to be salt and light, with an emphasis on service to our local community.
(Matthew 5:13-16)

9. Our World

All people matter to God; therefore, they must matter to us. We are devoted to the good news of forgiveness through Jesus Christ, the only message of life for the world. Further, we accept the challenge of taking this message to those who need it regardless of where that may be. It is the congregation’s responsibility to share the gospel with others, and the responsibility of the leadership to train and encourage them.
(Matthew 13:44-46; 28:18-20; Luke 5:30-32; 1 Corinthians 9:19-23)

10. Our Stewardship

We understand that all we have has been entrusted to us by God and it is our privilege to act as wise stewards in using his resources for his glory. We understand that God does not need our money, time, talents, or resources but that we need to demonstrate our willing and joyful dependence upon Him through sacrificial giving and serving.
(2 Corinthians 8:1-9:8; 1 Timothy 6:6-10, 17-19)

11. Our Pursuit of Excellence

We believe that excellence, expressed together with humility and authenticity, glorifies God and inspires people. We define excellence as doing all we can within our God-given resources, to reflect the majesty and order of God and His creation. We pursue excellence in our teaching, our music, our facility, our services, our programs—these should reflect our best offerings to God.
(Colossians 3:17, 23-24; Malachi 1:6-14; John 13:34-38; 1 Thessalonians 2:8)

12. Our Future

We recognize that “without vision, the people perish” (Proverbs 29:18) and so we will work unceasingly to fulfill our church’s purpose to our greatest capacity, always working toward growth in our impact for the kingdom of God.
(Colossians 1:28-29; 3:17; Hebrews 12:1-2)
