Pave the Way
Ephesians 3:20-21says, “Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.”
We pray that Cornerstone Community Church will be a church that faithfully knows Christ and makes Him known for generations to come. The elders and building committee have prayed and decided that now is the time to make the repairs and improvements not just for us but for the next generation.

Giving Guidelines
We are rejoicing in the great things God is doing in and through the people of Cornerstone. We are excited about the expanded ministries this new property and building will bring.
We ask that the funds you dedicate to this campaign be over and above your regular giving so that we can:
• Continue to fully fund Cornerstone’s ongoing ministries
• Maintain our support to our missionaries
• Pay off any debt as soon as possible

Your first step: Pray
Sacrificial giving is a spiritual decision. Ask God for wisdom (James 1:5) and to continue to increase your faith as you excel in the grace of giving (2 Corinthians 8:7). “God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed.” 2 Corinthians 9:8
“The generous man will be prosperous, and he who waters will himself be watered.” Proverbs 11:25

Your second step: Study and Discuss
Read the following Scriptures with your family:
• Proverbs 3:9-10
• Proverbs 11:24-25
• Luke 6:38
• 2 Corinthians 8:1-12
• 2 Corinthians 9:6-12
• Matthew 6:19-20.
Take time to discuss this matter and seek God’s guidance together.

Your third step: Commit
When you have determined what God would have you give, pray a prayer of commitment similar to this: “Father, everything we have comes from You. Teach us to be cheerful givers and trust You to meet our needs. Thank You for the indescribable gift of eternal life that Your Son provided for us on the cross. We pray that You would take our gift and use it to reach more for Christ. Thank You for what you are doing through Cornerstone. In Jesus’ name, Amen!”
Frequently asked questions
How much money are we trying to raise and how much debit will we incur?
Our Pave the Way campaign goal is $2 million. Lead gift pledges and donations will be pursued and made early in the campaign. With the momentum of the anticipated lead gifts, and with the generosity of the rest of the Cornerstone family, we have an incredible opportunity to pay for all repairs and improvements and pay off the current $650,000 loan by fall of 2027.
Won’t the Pave the Way campaign reduce the amount people give to our ongoing general fund budget?
Historically, we have seen general fund contributions actually rise during a building fund campaign. The heightened emphasis on prayer and a greater understanding of biblical stewardship usually prompt an increase in financial commitments to both the building fund and the general fund.
At Cornerstone we paid off the original building loan in 2002. We added the children’s building in 2003 and paid that off within a year. We purchased the Morro Road church property in 2013 and paid it off in 2016.
We are not just making repairs and improvements, we are Paving the Way to minister to future generations whom God continues to draw to Himself and to Cornerstone Community Church.

How does my building campaign gift affect my regular financial giving?
Your commitment to the campaign should be over and above your regular gifts to the church. If you haven’t made an ongoing commitment to biblical stewardship yet, please prayerfully consider taking that step of faith first and then make a Pave the Way commitment as the Lord leads.
When do commitments begin and how long do they last?
The church-wide campaign begins Sunday, September 8, 2024 with the collection of gifts and commitments on Sunday, November 10, 2024. The commitments are for a three-year period.
Can I give a lump sum?
Yes. If you are able, we ask that you give your gift on or before Sunday, November 10.
Can I change my pledge later if necessary?
Absolutely. Your commitment card isn’t a binding contract; it’s a good-faith commitment of your giving plans based on your current financial situation. We trust that every person who turns in a commitment card sincerely intends to follow through with it, but we also understand that your circumstances might change. Please let Jen Kramer ([email protected]) if you need to alter your commitment.
Will I have to sign anything?
You will be asked to complete a commitment card. The card will be used to track commitments and plan for future budgets.
Can I give something other than cash?
You are welcome to give anything of value during the next three years that can be converted into cash. Property, vehicles, stocks, bonds, mutual funds and jewelry are examples of gifts other than cash that might be given. The IRS tax code is very generous on a Gift-in-Kind. Appreciated investment property held more than one year (such as stock, mutual fund shares, bonds, and real estate) can be given. By transferring ownership of a stock or mutual fund asset to the church, you can eliminate potential capital gains taxes and you receive the full value of the asset (after the church sells the stock or mutual fund) as a tax donation.
Personal property such as cars, jewelry, and boats may also be given.
For gifts other than cash, contact Larry Jordan at [email protected].

If I cannot give financially, how else can I help?
Pray, pray, and then pray some more. Pray for God’s clear leading, for His provision through the generosity of His people, for wisdom and safety for the workers.
Will my contribution records be made public?
No. All commitments and contributions are completely confidential.
How do I know what to give?
First and foremost, you should prayerfully ask God to show you your part. Listen to the Pave the Way sermons, participate in Community Group discussion, and over the weeks pray for God to lead you in how He wants you to sacrificially give.
