Youth Group

Our youth gather at the church on Wednesday nights from 6:30-8:00pm (8:30pm during the summer) to fellowship and study God’s Word. They are currently working through the book of 1 John. You can listen to the weekly messages on our Sermons page. The first Wednesday of each month is Parents’ Night, when parents are encouraged to join their youth!

Each year, our youth serve the body to raise funds for a summer camping retreat at Dinkey Creek.

Philosophy of Youth Ministry

Today’s youth are destined to have an impact on the advance of Christ’s kingdom in the future. We believe in the life-changing message of the gospel. Our youth ministry motto is, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes” Romans 1:16

The goal of the ministry is to shape maturing teens into young adults who love and worship Jesus Christ, by providing contexts for them to experience, apply, and proclaim the glorious gospel.

Associate Pastor Matt Russell leads our Youth Ministry leadership team. Rather than parents abdicating their role to a ministry leader, parents are encouraged to be heavily involved in all youth activities and to be the primary means of grace in their children’s lives. To facilitate the training of the youth, parents are encouraged and equipped to effectively disciple their teens, with the help of the church community.

The format/structure of the youth ministry consists of weekly meetings, regular recreational activities, and several service days throughout the year. The weekly meetings provide an opportunity for the youth to pray, worship the Lord, serve others, fellowship, and most importantly, study God’s Word. Our youth are currently working through the book of 1 John.

It is also used as a platform for teaching about biblical expectations for young adults and teen/parent relationships. The recreational and service activities provide additional opportunities for fellowship and relational development.

We have seen God’s faithfulness in revealing Himself to many of the youth, as they have recognized their need for the Savior. The fruit has been abundant as we’ve seen many of the youth assume their place as vital members of the church community, serving alongside the adults. The youth are seeing Cornerstone Community Church as their own church, not simply one they attend with their parents.
